Dear Parents and Carers,

As we look forward to warmer weather, we’d like to kindly remind everyone of our dress code guidelines. Whilst we don’t have a formal uniform, we do ask for your support in ensuring that students’ attire remains appropriate for school.

We greatly appreciate your help in supporting the following expectations, which help us maintain a respectful and positive learning environment:

  • No Crop tops, low-cut tops, or any clothing that may be too revealing.
  • No skin-tight bodysuits or all-in-one outfits.
  • Shorts should be loose-fitting and no shorter than mid-thigh.
  • Leggings should not be so tight that underwear is visible.
  • Hats, hoods, or head coverings that cover a student’s face from our CCTV system are not permitted.
  • Pyjamas and slippers are not suitable for school.
  • We ask that students avoid wearing clothing with offensive logos or inappropriate writing.

In the event that a student arrives in attire that doesn’t meet these guidelines we will not allow them to enter the academy. We will however offer students a t-shirt (if available) or provide an opportunity to go home and change and return back to school. Our goal is to keep everyone feeling comfortable and focused, so we appreciate your understanding and support in helping students follow these guidelines.

We prioritise the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. To maintain a secure environment, we implement screening, searching, and confiscation procedures in line with government guidance.

Screening & Searching
All students are screened on arrival using a handheld wand and asked to turn out their pockets. Searches may also be conducted if a student is suspected of carrying prohibited items. All students agree to these checks and if they do not then they can not enter the building that day.

Confiscation of Items
Students must hand in mobile phones and electronic devices (e.g. smartwatches, headphones, tablets) upon arrival, which are securely stored and returned at the end of the day.

The following must also be handed in and will be returned later:

  • Crisps, fizzy drinks, chocolate, sweets, and chewing gum (water is encouraged).

The following are strictly prohibited and will be disposed of:

  • Cigarettes, vapes, lighters, and other smoking paraphernalia.

Prohibited Items
Bringing the following may result in suspension or police involvement:

  • Weapons, alcohol, drugs, stolen items, fireworks, aerosols, or inappropriate material.

Confiscated weapons, illegal substances, or extreme pornography will be handed to the police.

For more details, please refer to the DfE Guidance on Searching, Screening, and Confiscation. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Thank you for partnering with us in ensuring a positive school environment. We appreciate all your efforts in helping your child prepare for the school day!

Best regards,

Kerrie Henton
